Skoropo ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Skoropo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account Information — name, email address, phone number, and profile photo when you register.
- Location Data — precise GPS location while you use the App, and background location (for providers actively accepting jobs) so customers can track their service provider in real time. We will request your explicit permission before collecting background location.
- Device Information — device model, operating system, and unique device identifiers for security and analytics.
- Usage Data — app interaction data, crash logs, and performance metrics to improve the App.
- Booking & Payment Data — service requests, pricing, and transaction records. Payment processing is handled securely via Paystack; we do not store card details.
- Communications — messages sent between customers and providers through our in-app chat, and call metadata (not call content).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To connect customers with service providers and process bookings.
- To display real-time provider location to customers during active bookings.
- To send service updates, booking confirmations, and support messages.
- To improve App performance and user experience.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Location Data — Prominent Disclosure
The Skoropo App collects location data even when the App is closed or not in use for users who have accepted jobs as service providers. This is required to:
- Show customers the real-time position of their provider while a job is active.
- Calculate accurate ETAs and route information.
Background location is only collected while a provider has an active, accepted booking. It stops automatically once a job is completed or cancelled. You may revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, however this will limit your ability to use the provider features of the App.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:
- Other users — your name, profile photo, and rating are visible to the other party in a booking.
- Firebase / Google — for authentication, database, storage, and push notifications.
- Stream.io — for in-app chat and voice calling functionality.
- Paystack — for payment processing.
- Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time via our Account Deletion Request page or by contacting us at the email below. Booking records may be retained for up to 24 months for legal and financial compliance purposes.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules to restrict data access, and secure authentication. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Withdraw consent for location access at any time via device settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the App.
